Alvaro Morata: Chelsea fans will be punching the air - Pat Nevin

Chelsea fans will be "punching the air" after the club concurred an arrangement to sign Real Madrid striker Alvaro Morata, says previous Blues winger Pat Nevin.

Morata, 24, will examine individual terms and have a restorative after Real acknowledged an offer of about £60m for him.

Chelsea had beforehand attempted to re-sign Romelu Lukaku, yet the Belgium striker rather joined Manchester United.

The arrangement was declared a day after administrator Antonio Conte marked an enhanced contract with the Premier League champions.

'Morata can get 15-20 objectives for Chelsea'

Morata could supplant Spain colleague Diego Costa, who says he has been told by administrator Antonio Conte that he is never again in Chelsea's designs.

Morata scored 20 objectives last season in the wake of rejoining Real from Juventus.

"I think he was the main decision that Antonio Conte needed," said Nevin.

"I don't know what will be occurring with Diego Costa. I believe it's very far-fetched he will remain with every one of the commotions we've been hearing.

"Chelsea require a striker who can give you 15-20 objectives a season.

"Place him in a group where you have any semblance of Cesc Fabregas, any semblance of Eden Hazard giving you a lot of chances... Morata can do that."

The details

Morata's transformation rate last season was 27%, the most astounding of any striker to score at least 10 objectives in La Liga in 2016-17; he scored 15 objectives from 55 shots.

Morata's objectives won Real Madrid 13 focuses in La Liga last season; just Cristiano Ronaldo won more for the favor 15.
